This was in part due to starting to use hashtags to help other users find my images, and the discovery of hub accounts that shared some of my images to their large audiences. Some may look super spammy and have a bunch of numbers in the name with one or two posts with things like "BUY FOLLOWERS 2DAY!!!!!" while others look just like regular accounts, have a couple of photos, and even have followers and comments. The followers you buy can be a mix of bot accounts and legitimate users who have signed up for what's known as "credit Likes" or "follow swapping," says Evan Asano, CEO and founder of influencer marketing agency Mediakix In those cases, users will follow others to earn credit that can be used to get more followers for their own account.

In the last 6 months Instagram has shown signs of strongly cracking down on services like this by straight up deleting your account, or putting you under a shadow ban” which makes everything look fine in theory, but realistically your posts aren't being seen by your followers, your images aren't being categorized in hashtags, and you've practically become invisible on the platform.. Which, obviously, could be seriously detrimental to the growth of your account. If you've started a new Instagram account, make sure you've got something for people to look at. You need at least 3, but ideally 9 photos or videos to start - and make sure they're the most exciting, inspiring or interesting posts you can dream up. These posts need to inspire people so much that they absolutely have to follow you. Also images that don't include faces, but using a point-of-view shot where the camera acts as the eyes of the audience can help them make them feel like they're a part of the image. Despite having fewer likes, the post by Mecca Maxima has far more comments compared to their posts that don't include faces.
